Felding Co Employee Spotlight: Adam Swift
Here at Felding Co we like to highlight things we are passionate about. Often that is clothing, but we are truly passionate about people. Our customers all have certain things they love about the shop, and so do our staff. For the second time we sit down with one our own to highlight some of his passions.
Tell us a little about yourself.
I am a Knoxville native. I am proud to call this area home; it molded me into the person I am today. I enjoy being in the mountains, taking photographs, reading, and spending time with my wife. I am currently working towards a Masters of Arts in English at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. I intend on pursuing a career in scientific and technical communication while staying closely connected to and involved in the menswear community.
What made you interested in working at Felding Co?
Over the past four years, I became interested in and gained knowledge about quality menswear. I am drawn to simple, workwear style mixed with thoughtful details. I never thought a store that carried these kinds of products would ever come to Knoxville, but then Felding Co opened up earlier this year. I am so excited to be a small part of bringing curated, quality menswear to Knoxville.
What is your favorite brand at Felding Co?
My favorite brand would have to be 3sixteen. Their fits, fabrics, and construction all beautifully come together to make products that consistently blow my mind. The gentlemen that run the brand are also super cool guys.
What is your favorite item at Felding Co?
My favorite item is my J. Stark Prospect Briefcase. The perfect size. The perfect price. There is also just something special about a solid everyday bag made in a small workshop in Charleston, SC (one of my favorite cities) by people that care about the products they make.
If you could buy anything in the store right now, what would it be and why?
I would buy a new pair of 3sixteen ST-120x selvedge denim jeans. Ever since I saw a faded pair for the first time a couple years ago, I knew I needed a pair eventually. The fade potential of an indigo warp and black weft jean is just crazy.
Describe your musical tastes.
My musical taste depends on the type of day it is and what I happen to be doing on said day. That being said, I tend to stick with mellow alternative or folky stuff, sometimes instrumental downtempo. My playlist includes a couple of my staples:
What are your favorite places to go in Knoxville? Besides Felding Co obviously.
If I’m looking for some food and I’m downtown, I usually end up at Babalu, Not Watson’s, or Cafe 4. I often find myself studying and getting caffeinated at Remedy Coffee or K Brew. If out in West Knoxville, I like to spend the occasional evening with my wife at Concord Park.
