Taylor Stitch's Montara Jacket
Taylor Stitch’s Montara Jacket is a modern take on one of the most classic, timeless jackets ever made: the Harrington jacket. Worn by icons of men’s style including Steve McQueen, James Dean, and Elvis Presley, the Harrington jacket was first made in England in the 1930s before being transformed into certified menswear staple status when the Baracuta G9 iteration was introduced. The Harrington jacket made its way to America in the 1950s and became instantly popular among American men because of its resemblance to bomber and flight jackets worn by pilots during WWII and the Korean War. Perhaps most emblematic of its place in American menswear is the fact that each president is given a Harrington jacket to wear on Air Force One.
Taylor Stitch has taken everything that makes the Harrington jacket iconic, and added their own unique spin, attention to detail, and commitment to quality. The Montara Jacket uses a 7-oz. 70% cotton/30% nylon shell to ensure that the jacket is lightweight and breathable while being tough enough to withstand wind and rain. The cotton corduroy collar is an ode to classic Harrington jacket styles, but Taylor Stitch elected to include a cotton lining with a custom print - I won’t ruin it by describing it: you have to see it yourself - rather than the typical plain cotton or plaid print that many Harrington jackets have.
The Montara Jacket is the perfect transitional jacket that is guaranteed to never go out of style.
